Grand Opening Celebration for Winona’s New Oberton Family Bicycle Skills Park

Date: Thursday, September 12, 2024
Time: 6:00 to 7:00 PM
Location: Bluffside Park, next to Holzinger Lodge, 925 W Lake Blvd, Winona, MN 55987

Winona’s eagerly anticipated Mountain Bike Skills Park is set to open its trail features to the public with a Grand Opening event on Thursday, September 12, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Bluffside Park. The event will showcase the park’s three exciting new areas: the Beginner Skills Course with rollers, banks, rocks and other rideable features, a beginner Jump Line with 10 foot tall wooden bridge overpass, and Beginner/Intermediate Drop/Jump Lines.

The evening’s agenda includes an introduction to the park and its features, followed by guided demonstrations, spectating, and riding laps through the newly opened trails. Attendees are encouraged to participate in interactive sessions such as guided tours of the bike park by the Winona Area Mountain Bikers (WAMB), bike demonstrations by Adventure Bike and Ski, and a chance to meet riders and coaches from the Youth Mountain Bike Team.

"We are thrilled to celebrate the opening of the Oberton Family Bike Park, a project made possible by the generosity of the Shirley and Will Oberton Family and the expertise of the park builders, Adam Buck, of Pathfinder Trail Building," said Patrick Menton, City of Winona Director of Parks and Facilities. "This park will not only provide a thrilling experience for riders of all ages and skill levels but will also serve as a recreational hub for the entire Winona community. We cannot thank the Oberton Family enough for this generous gift."

The event is open to the public and all biking and hiking enthusiasts.

For more information and updates on the Grand Opening event, please visit the Parks & Recreation Facebook page or contact Patrick Menton.
