Xcel Energy is rebuilding the 69 kV electric transmission line that runs from Goodview across the Mississippi River into Wisconsin. Beginning October 20, 2025 and ending March 2026, Xcel Energy will require exclusive access to specific areas of Prairie Island Park for staging and transporting materials and equipment. Designated areas will be clearly marked and fenced off; the public should not enter closed areas.
Beginning October 20, 2025, a section of the dog park will be fenced-off. The dog park will remain open.
Beginning January 1 through February 27, 2026, portions of the boat launch at the spillway and Prairie Island Campground will be impacted. The campground will remain open for winter camping.
Access to all affected areas is expected to be restored by March 2026.
