
Officer Tyler Sense traveled to Rushford, Minnesota to pick up “Reo,” a 8-month-old Belgian Malinois specifically selected for the Winona Police Department. He was born in Iowa at the Iron Ridge K9s and after returning to Winona to live with Officer Sense, his name was changed to Delta
Training:
Officer Sense and Delta successfully completed 13-weeks of training, which consisted of 520 hours, through Code Blue K9. This training included:
- Area Searches
- Article Searches
- Bite Work
- Building Searches
- Handler Protection
- Obedience
- Tracking
Officer Sense and Delta successfully completed and certified for narcotics detection through the USPCA. Delta is certified to locate:
- Cocaine
- Crack-Cocaine
- Heroin
- Black Tar Heroin
- Methamphetamine
K9 Goose (Retired)
In September 2022, Officer Sense was selected as the next K9 handler for the Winona Police Department. This follows the retirement of K9 Goose after a very successful five-year career with Officer Doug Inglett. K9 Goose served the City of Winona from March 2018 to March 2023.
