Complaints / Ordinances

The City does encourage all residents to maintain their property in a manner that is neat, clean and respectful to the other members of the community.

• The City's nuisance ordinance is enforced primarily through a complaint system, where residents can either call or email with a concern about a specific property.
  
  All complaint reports remain anonymous.

Complaints regarding the issues below should be directed to the Inspections Division at 507-457-8231 or email inspections@winonamn.gov

• Garbage must be stored in an approved covered refuse container – City Code Section 32.01(b) (10)
• Junk vehicles – City Code Section 32.01 (19)
• Snow must be removed from sidewalks within 24 hours after a snowfall ends – City Code Section 25.13
  (Salt and sand is available at no charge at the Central Garage located at 1104 West Third Street).
• Storage of junk/unsafe or unhealthy buildings - City Code Section 32.01(b)(22)
• Weeds/grass must not reach 6 inches in height – City Code Section 32.03
• Duties of Responsible Tenant: Garbage –  City Code Section 35.02
